About Central African Republic

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in the heart of Africa, sharing borders with nine nations. Its landscape ranges from tropical rainforest in the southwest to savanna in the north and east. The capital, Bangui, sits on the bank of the Ubangi River. Covering roughly 623,000 square kilometres, the country is sparsely populated. Despite substantial natural resources — including diamonds, gold, and timber — it ranks among the least developed nations in the world. Protected areas such as the Dzanga-Sangha complex preserve a significant share of its rich biodiversity.
