About Republic of the Congo
The Republic of the Congo is a Central African country bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the east, separated by the Congo River. Its capital, Brazzaville, sits directly across the river from Kinshasa. Much of the country is covered by tropical rainforest forming part of the Congo Basin, one of the world's most biodiverse regions. With a population of around five million, the economy relies heavily on oil. The country offers opportunities for ecotourism as well as urban culture in Brazzaville.
