About Guinea
Guinea is a country in West Africa, bordered by Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Mali to the north, Côte d'Ivoire to the east, and Sierra Leone and Liberia to the south. Its capital, Conakry, sits on the Atlantic coast. The country holds some of the world's largest bauxite reserves and is a major global producer of the ore. The Fouta Djallon highlands in the interior serve as the headwaters for several major West African rivers. With a population of around 13 million, Guinea is home to a diverse range of ethnic groups and cultures.
