About Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe is a French overseas region located in the eastern Caribbean, part of the Lesser Antilles island chain. It consists of two main islands — Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre — joined by a narrow channel, along with several smaller dependencies. Basse-Terre serves as the administrative capital, while Pointe-à-Pitre is the largest city and economic hub. As an integral part of France, it is also an outermost region of the European Union. The volcanic island of Basse-Terre is home to the active La Soufrière volcano and a significant national park covering much of its interior.
