About Equatorial Guinea

Equatorial Guinea is the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa, situated on the central-western coast of the continent along the Gulf of Guinea. It comprises a mainland section known as Mbini, or Río Muni, and several islands, most notably Bioko, where the capital Malabo is located. Despite its small size, the country ranks among Africa's higher per-capita income nations due to significant offshore oil reserves. Dense tropical rainforest covers much of the interior, and the islands support notable biodiversity.
