About Laos
Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia, bordering China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Much of the country is covered by forested mountains, with the Mekong River forming large stretches of its western border. The capital, Vientiane, is the country's largest city. Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, is known for its Buddhist temples and the daily alms-giving procession of monks. Laos remains one of the least densely populated countries in the region.
