About Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia is a small island nation in the eastern Caribbean, situated between Martinique to the north and Saint Vincent to the south. Part of the Lesser Antilles, it covers approximately 617 square kilometres. The island is known for its volcanic landscape, including the Pitons — two distinctive volcanic peaks in the southwest — as well as rainforests, sulphur springs, and sandy beaches. The capital is Castries. English is the official language, while a French-based Creole patois is also widely spoken. Tourism is one of the country's principal economic sectors.
