About Mali
Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa and one of the largest on the continent by area. The north is dominated by the Sahara Desert, while the River Niger flows through the more fertile south. The capital and largest city is Bamako. Mali has a significant historical legacy tied to the medieval empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai. The ancient trading city of Timbuktu is among the country's best-known places and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
