About Mongolia

Mongolia is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south. Covering roughly 1.56 million square kilometres, it is one of the world's largest countries by area, yet one of the most sparsely populated, with around three million inhabitants. The landscape ranges from vast grassland steppes and the Gobi Desert in the south to the Altai mountain range in the west. The capital, Ulaanbaatar, is home to more than a third of the total population. Nomadic herding traditions remain an important part of daily life.
