About Somalia

Somalia occupies the tip of the Horn of Africa, bordering Ethiopia, Kenya, and Djibouti. It has the longest coastline of any country on the African mainland, stretching along the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. The capital, Mogadishu, serves as the political and economic hub. The country is home to a predominantly Somali-speaking population with a strong tradition of nomadic pastoralism and oral poetry. After decades of civil conflict and political instability, Somalia is gradually working toward reconstruction and renewed governance.
