About Tajikistan
Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. More than 90 percent of its territory is mountainous, dominated by the Pamir range, which includes Ismoil Somoni Peak, the country's highest summit. The capital and largest city is Dushanbe. Tajik, an Iranian language, is the official tongue. The country appeals particularly to travellers interested in high-mountain landscapes, trekking, and the cultures of the historic Silk Road corridor that once passed through the region.
