Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa, bordered by Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan. The northern shore of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, lies within its borders, and the Nile River has its source here. The country is home to a significant share of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, protected within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Kampala serves as the capital and main urban centre of a nation with a population of around 48 million.
