Recommendations, Discover & Compare

All the key features explained — from your personalized recommendations to theme discovery and city comparison.

How do my personal recommendations work?

You rate places with ❤️, 👍 or 👎 — from that the app learns your taste. After around 50 ratings, personalized recommendations for cities and places begin to appear. The more you rate, the more accurate they become.

What is "Discover" and how do I use it?

Discover is theme-based navigation: you pick a city and see its best places grouped by categories like architecture, romance or nightlife. That way you find spots matching your interests — without scrolling through thousands.

How do I use the city comparison?

Go to /compare, pick two cities and see them side by side: place count per theme, population and category differences. That way you find which city fits your trip better — without juggling two tabs.

Why do I see certain places and not others?

Places are filtered by category (architecture, nature, dining etc.) and community popularity. In Discover you see the best places per theme; in recommendations your personal ratings also count. If a place has no ratings yet, it may not appear.

Can I add my city or favorite place?

Places come from open-data sources like Wikidata and OpenStreetMap, not user uploads. If you're missing a city or specific place, drop me a line — depending on size and availability, it can make it into the next catalogue expansion.

How do my recommendations differ from top-lists?

Top-lists show the highest-rated places for everyone — the same list for everybody. Your recommendations take your personal taste into account based on your ratings. So you see places that fit your profile, not just the most popular ones.
