Cities & Places

TravelType kicks off in German-speaking Europe and expands continuously — here's what places we have, where they come from, and how the catalogue grows.

Which cities and places are already in TravelType?

We're starting with the major cities and places in German-speaking Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The catalogue grows continuously — the more people rate, the fuller it gets.

Where do the places and data come from?

Places come from open sources — Wikidata and OpenStreetMap. That means: transparent, accessible to everyone, not locked in a commercial database. Anyone can contribute.

My city is missing — what can I do?

Drop me a line anytime. Depending on the situation we can add the city, or you can contribute directly through OpenStreetMap — anyone can add or improve places there.

How does the catalogue expand?

First we're solidifying German-speaking Europe — more places, better metadata, richer themes. Next comes expansion to other regions. The pace is shaped by users and the data sources.

Can I suggest a place that doesn't exist in Wikidata or OSM?

Yes — either message us, or add it directly to OpenStreetMap. Open databases thrive on many people contributing. Once a place is in there, it will show up in TravelType.

Will user data (ratings) be shared with others?

No. Your ratings and profile are private — unless you choose to make your profile public (then it's visible at /@handle). We don't share or sell data to third parties.
