35 Kiyotaki-ji

Kiyotaki-ji is the 35th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, one of Japan's most celebrated Buddhist circuits, and belongs to the Buzan branch of Shingon Buddhism. Located in the city of Tosa in Kōchi Prefecture, it carries the mountain name Iōzan and the honorific Kyōchiin. The Shingon tradition, brought to Shikoku in the early 9th century by the monk Kūkai — venerated as Kōbō Daishi — is defined by esoteric rituals, mantra recitation, and elaborate mandala iconography. Pilgrims dressed in white, known as henro, visit all 88 temples on a circuit that can take 30 to 60 days on foot. Kiyotaki-ji receives both dedicated pilgrims completing the full circuit and day visitors seeking quiet contemplation at a working temple off the main tourist trail.
