Agustín de Argüelles

This memorial in Xixón (Gijón) commemorates Agustín Argüelles (1776–1844), one of the leading liberal statesmen of early 19th-century Spain. A prominent deputy at the Cádiz Cortes, he was a principal drafter of Spain's 1812 constitution — the country's first — earning him the epithet 'The Divine'.
