Basilica of St. Pudentiana

The Basilica of Santa Pudentiana on the Viminal Hill is claimed as Rome's oldest Catholic basilica — a place of Christian life since the 2nd century, with the oldest surviving apse mosaic in the city, dating from around 400 CE. The mosaic depicting Christ enthroned before ancient Jerusalem is one of the most important works of early Christian art. The church also marks the site of a recognised eucharistic miracle from 1610 and today serves as a spiritual home for Rome's Philippine Catholic community.
