Ben Hill Griffin Stadium — universally known as "The Swamp" — is the home of the Florida Gators football team on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville. Its official capacity of 88,548 ranks it among the twelve largest stadiums in college football, yet attendance routinely surpasses 90,000 for marquee matchups. The "Swamp" nickname was popularized by head coach Steve Spurrier in the 1990s, who quipped that swamps are where Gators live and where opponents come to die — a piece of sports lore that has since become part of Florida football identity. Game days transform the surrounding campus into a sea of orange and blue, with tailgating crowds filling the grounds hours before kickoff. Operated by the University Athletic Association, the stadium is fully wheelchair accessible and draws visitors well beyond the college football season.
