Dämeritzsee

The Dämeritzsee is a shallow freshwater lake straddling an unusual administrative boundary: the state border between Berlin and Brandenburg runs almost exactly north–south through the middle of the water, meaning a swimmer crossing the lake technically changes federal states mid-stroke. The northern and western shores belong to the Berlin district of Rahnsdorf-Hessenwinkel, while the eastern and southern banks fall within the town of Erkner in Brandenburg. For outdoor enthusiasts the lake offers calm stretches for sailing, canoeing, and fishing alongside shallow bathing spots popular with families from southeast Berlin. A lakeside path connects much of the shoreline for cyclists and walkers.
