Forum Clodii

Forum Clodii was an ancient Roman settlement in southern Etruria, situated along the Via Clodia on the western shore of Lake Bracciano. The Via Clodia was an important Roman road connecting Rome with northern Etruria, and Forum Clodii served as a post station and trading centre along this route. Barely any visible remains of the original settlement survive today; the site now lies within the municipality of Bracciano. Its historical position on Lake Bracciano, a volcanic crater lake, makes it a quiet witness to ancient infrastructure in the volcanic landscape north of Rome.
