Gebrüder-Lachner-Museum

The Gebrüder-Lachner-Museum in Rain am Lech commemorates the three Lachner brothers — Franz, Ignaz and Vinzenz — composers and conductors all born in this small Bavarian town in the early 19th century. Franz Lachner was one of Franz Schubert's closest companions in Vienna and later served as chief conductor in Munich for several decades, making him a central figure in German Romantic musical life. Founded in 1989, the museum holds documents, instruments and memorabilia relating to the family and the broader Biedermeier music culture. Opening hours are limited to Sundays, 14:00–16:00, making it a quiet destination for visitors with a specific interest in 19th-century German music history.
