Grote Kerk (Groede)

The Grote Kerk in Groede is a medieval brick-Gothic church now belonging to the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, listed as a Rijksmonument under national heritage protection. It is dedicated to Saint Bavo of Ghent, an early medieval hermit venerated across the Flemish and Dutch church tradition. Like many rural Zeeland churches, it passed from Catholicism to Protestantism during the Reformation. Its modest brick nave is representative of the restrained Gothic style found across the low-lying coastal parishes of Zeeland, and it remains an active place of worship in this small polder village.
