Little Church in the Pines

The Little Church in the Pines is a modest timber chapel built around 1902–1908 in Salina, a former silver-mining settlement in Boulder County, Colorado. When the mining boom collapsed and Salina became a ghost town, the building sat abandoned for decades after a brief stint as a mine office. In 1948 a neighborhood group purchased and revived it for nondenominational worship and community gatherings, a role it still holds today. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the chapel sits tucked among ponderosa pines as one of the few surviving structures from Colorado's short-lived mountain mining era. Its bare-bones frontier craftsmanship and quiet forest setting give it an atmosphere of resilient, unhurried purpose.
