Musée de la Magie

The Musee de la Magie occupies vaulted cellars in an old house on Rue Saint-Paul in the Marais and was founded in 1993 by stage magician Georges Proust. The collection covers three centuries of conjuring: trick boxes, mirror apparatuses, optical illusions and posters from Robert-Houdin to Harry Houdini. The adjoining Musee des Automates displays nineteenth-century mechanical figures that perform on the press of a button. Live magic shows are included in the ticket and run several times a day. It is a charming family stop in a quarter dense with much better-known museums.
