Chiesa di Sant'Angela Merici
Vatican City
Nostra Signora de La Salette is a Roman Catholic parish and titular church in the southern Gianicolense quarter on the Piazza Madonna de La Salette. Consecrated in 1965, it is one of Rome's younger churches, dedicated to the Marian apparition at La Salette in the French Alps, where in 1846 the Virgin appeared in tears to two shepherd children over the sins of mankind. The sober brick building with a tall bell tower was raised to titular church for cardinals in 1969 and is run by the French Salettine congregation. Visitors find a quiet, untouristed quarter with a neighbourhood market and the green expanse of the nearby Villa Pamphili in the background.
