Panoramic Viewpoint - Hallstatt

This viewpoint above Hallstatt is widely regarded as one of the most photographed spots in Austria, framing the pastel-colored lakeside houses, the slender church spire, and the mirror-still waters of Lake Hallstatt against the sheer cliffs of the Dachstein massif. The village below has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, its history rooted in over 7,000 years of salt mining that gave the entire Salzkammergut region its name and wealth. The viewpoint itself sits along a narrow path through a residential area — visitors are asked to keep noise to a minimum.
