Turf Circle is an outdoor artwork in Krefeld created in 1969 from peat, a material used by late-1960s conceptual artists to evoke transience and landscape. The circular earth form belongs to the Land Art movement, which in that era abandoned gallery spaces in favor of natural materials placed directly in the environment. It offers an understated, contemplative experience that rewards close attention rather than spectacle.
