About České Budějovice

České Budějovice, historically known in German as Budweis, is the largest city in South Bohemia, Czech Republic, with a population of around 97,000. Situated at the confluence of the Vltava and Malše rivers, it serves as the administrative capital of the South Bohemian Region. The city played an early role in Central European railway history, commemorated by the Základní kámen trati Plzeň–Vídeň, a foundation stone marking the Pilsen–Vienna line. Visitors can also explore the Malý jez weir and the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, among other local points of interest.
