Carrara lies in northwestern Tuscany, Italy, at the foot of the Apuan Alps, with a population of around 60,000. The city has been a global centre of white marble quarrying since antiquity, and the stone extracted here has shaped buildings and sculptures across centuries. The surrounding landscape offers a range of outdoor points of interest, including the Torrione di Capradossa, Colle di Altana, the Ponte Rotto and the historic antico ponte.
