About Kegalle

Kegalle is a town in the Sabaragamuwa Province of southwestern Sri Lanka, roughly 80 kilometres northeast of Colombo, and the administrative centre of Kegalle District. Its population is around 18,000. The surrounding landscape is characterised by rolling hills and rubber and tea plantations. The town is home to several Buddhist temples, including Sri Keerthirathnarama Maha Viharaya, Paragala Temple, Kahambiliyawala Temple, and Manpita Temple. The NewParadise Spice Garden offers a look at local spice cultivation, while Kegalle Fair Ground serves as a gathering point for markets and community events.
