Marche-en-Famenne lies in the heart of the Belgian province of Luxembourg, set among the rolling hills of the Famenne region. With around 17,000 inhabitants, it serves as a regional centre whose roots stretch back to the Middle Ages. The Tour de la Famenne and the Église Saint-Pierre are among the notable landmarks in the town centre. A memorial site marks the halting of the German advance on 24 December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce, Chapelle Saint-Antoine, and Château Castel Alne add further depth to this quiet Walloon town.
