Matarieh is a city in Dakahlia Governorate in northern Egypt, situated in the Nile Delta to the east of Lake Manzala. With a population of around 165,000, it is one of the larger towns in this part of the Delta. Its urban fabric includes several mosques of local significance, among them the El-Shaarawy Mosque, the Great Mosque of Al-Asafra, and Al-Rahma Mosque.
