Nueve de Julio lies in Buenos Aires Province, roughly 260 kilometres west of the capital, amid the vast Pampas grasslands. Home to around 36,000 residents, it serves as the administrative centre of the partido of the same name. The city takes its name from Argentina's Independence Day. Points of interest include the Monumento a la Madre, the historic Cine Teatro Verdi, and the Monumento a los Desaparecidos, which commemorates victims of the military dictatorship.
