About Punta Alta

Punta Alta is a city of roughly 58,000 inhabitants in Buenos Aires Province, southeastern Argentina, situated about 30 kilometres south-east of Bahía Blanca. It has long been associated with the Argentine Navy and the nearby Puerto Belgrano base. Points of interest include the Teatro Colón theatre, the historic Castillo de Villa Arias, the chapel of Virgen del Rosario de San Nicolás, and the Plaza ARA Aviso Sobral. The sunken wreck known as Barco Hundido and the Bajo Hondo area also draw visitors to the region.
