About Shimla

Shimla sits in the outer Himalayas of northern India at an elevation of roughly 2,200 metres and serves as the capital of Himachal Pradesh state, home to just over 200,000 people. Under British colonial rule it functioned as the summer capital of the British Raj, a legacy still visible in landmarks such as Christ Church and Bantony Castle. The city also offers the Army Heritage Museum, the Jai Ma Santoshi Temple, a prominent Hanuman statue, Shiv Mandir, Jogni Garh, and the Chadwick Falls Pedestrian Gate, blending colonial heritage with Hindu religious sites.
