Túxpan, officially Túxpam de Rodríguez Cano, sits on the Tuxpan River in the Mexican state of Veracruz and has a population of around 85,000. The city serves as a notable petroleum port and retains a compact historic centre. Points of interest include the Museo de la Amistad Cuba y Mexico, which commemorates ties to the Cuban Revolution, the hilltop Cerro del Volador, the leafy Parque Furberos, and the Parroquia Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Monuments to General Lázaro Cárdenas del Río and oil workers reflect the region's industrial and political heritage.
