Usingen is a small town in the Taunus hills of Hesse, Germany, part of the Hochtaunuskreis district, with a population of around 15,000. The surrounding landscape is characterised by forested uplands, and the town includes several outlying districts such as Brandoberndorf and Hasselborn. Usingen is noted as the birthplace of the violinist August Wilhelmj. The area offers walking destinations including the Lichterstein, Vorderer Köppel, and Mühlkopf. The ruins of the pilgrimage church Mariazell and the church of St. Laurentius reflect the region's historical and religious heritage.
