About Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a country in South Asia, bordered almost entirely by India, with a short boundary with Myanmar to the southeast. Much of the low-lying country sits within the Ganges–Brahmaputra delta, one of the largest river deltas in the world. Dhaka serves as the capital and main economic hub. Bengali is the official language, and the country gained independence in 1971. The climate is tropical, with a pronounced monsoon season. In the south, the Sundarbans — a vast mangrove forest shared with India — is one of the country's most significant natural areas.
