About Indonesia
Indonesia is an archipelago nation in Southeast Asia comprising more than 17,000 islands, making it the world's largest island country by that measure. Spanning roughly 1.9 million square kilometres across the equator, it is home to over 270 million people — the fourth-largest population on Earth. Jakarta has long served as the capital, while a new capital city, Nusantara, is under development on Borneo. The country encompasses remarkable cultural diversity, with more than 300 distinct ethnic groups, alongside vast tropical rainforests and numerous active volcanoes.
