About Lithuania

Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic states, situated on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, bordering Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east, and Poland and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad to the south. The country has a population of roughly 2.8 million and is a member of the EU and NATO. Its capital, Vilnius, contains one of the largest surviving baroque old towns in northern Europe. Lithuania is also noted for its forests, lakes, and the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared with Russia.
