Accademia di belle arti di Parma

The Accademia di belle arti di Parma is a state fine arts academy and exhibition institution housed in a wing of the grand Palazzo della Pilotta, overlooking the Parma river. It was founded in 1757 by Duke Philip I of Parma, a Bourbon prince who sought to transform the city into a center of Enlightenment culture in northern Italy. The institution has operated continuously since, and today shares its historic building with the Paolo Toschi arts secondary school. Visitors can engage with the academic art tradition of the Parma region and the collecting legacy of its ducal patrons.
