Alaçatı

Alaçatı is a coastal town on the Çeşme Peninsula in İzmir Province, celebrated for its 19th-century Greek old town — a dense grid of narrow lanes, golden sandstone houses, and bougainvillea-draped courtyards. Originally home to a Greek-speaking population, the town was resettled following the 1923 population exchange between Turkey and Greece, and many of its historic stone buildings have since been converted into boutique hotels and restaurants. The nearby Alaçatı Port beach ranks among Europe's premier windsurfing destinations, drawing riders with its reliable thermal winds from May through October. Beyond the water, a weekly street market, small art galleries, and antique shops line the main boulevard, making Alaçatı a polished yet distinctly Aegean escape.
