Alderney Lighthouse

The lighthouse at Quénard Point stands at the northeastern tip of Alderney, the most northerly of the inhabited Channel Islands, and was built in 1912 as a classic stone tower with an encircling gallery and lantern. Its location is no accident: the Alderney Race, the tidal channel between the island and France's Cap de la Hague, generates currents of up to 12 knots — among the most treacherous in European waters. The tower sits at the end of a coastal path through rugged cliff scenery, offering open views across the English Channel toward Normandy.
