The Amelungsburg is a 292-metre wooded summit in the Lipper Bergland hill country near Dörentrup in the Lippe district of eastern Westphalia. The hill is protected as a cultural monument and preserves the earthwork remains of a prehistoric hillfort whose exact dating and function remain subjects of archaeological discussion. Marked hiking trails lead to the summit, which offers open views across the rolling Lipper landscape. It makes a straightforward half-day excursion from Lemgo or Detmold.
