Babilonie

Babilonie is a pre-Roman Iron Age hillfort perched at 255.6 metres on the northern rim of the Wiehengebirge ridge, above the village of Obermehnen near Lübbecke in the Minden-Lübbecke district. Its origins date to at least the early first millennium BC, making it one of the oldest surviving fortification sites in North Rhine-Westphalia. The encircling earthen rampart that gives the site its distinctive shape remains clearly legible in the landscape and is protected as a listed cultural monument. Visitors who hike up through the wooded hillside are rewarded with sweeping views across the Ravensberger Hügelland and the plains toward Minden. The remoteness of the site — unmarked by any visitor infrastructure — gives it an atmosphere of genuine archaeological solitude.
