Ararat Stadium Tehran

Tehran

Armenian community stadium in the heart of Tehran

Ararat Stadium in Tehran's Vanak neighbourhood was built in 1971 as part of the Ararat Sports Complex, with a capacity of around 10,000 spectators. It is owned by the Armenian-Iranian Cultural Ararat Organization, one of Iran's largest Armenian community bodies, founded in 1944. The name honours Mount Ararat — the sacred mountain of the Armenian people, now located in Turkey. The stadium serves local club Ararat Tehran and has also hosted the Iranian women's national football team. It stands as a distinctive piece of Armenian diaspora culture in the heart of Tehran.
