Archikatedra Świętego Jana Chrzciciela i Świętego Jana Ewangelisty

The Cathedral of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist in Lublin stands as one of the earliest Baroque churches in Poland. Built between 1592 and 1617 as a Jesuit church, it was a deliberate architectural statement of the Counter-Reformation in a city that was then one of the most religiously diverse in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The interior retains its early Baroque character, with elaborate stucco work and a sequence of side altars that demonstrate the Jesuit order's investment in persuasive sacred space. Elevated to cathedral status in the early 19th century and re-designated as the seat of the newly established Archdiocese of Lublin in 1992, the building remains an active place of worship and a listed monument. Its relatively modest exterior belies the richly decorated nave within.
