Atlantic Bridge

The Puente Atlántico is a prestressed-concrete road bridge spanning the Atlantic entrance of the Panama Canal, just short of the Gatún and Agua Clara locks near Colón. It is one of the few fixed crossings of the canal, linking the Colón peninsula to the Panamanian mainland. From the bridge, ships entering and exiting the canal pass at close range, making it a practical vantage point for watching freighter and tanker traffic. Its significance is primarily infrastructural, sitting at the gateway to one of the world's most important shipping corridors.
