Australian Centre for Contemporary Art

The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) is one of Australia's foremost kunsthalles, situated in Melbourne's Southbank Arts Precinct a short walk from the National Gallery of Victoria. Designed by the Melbourne firm Wood Marsh and completed in 2002, the building is immediately recognizable for its jagged roofline and weathering Corten steel skin — a deliberate echo of industrial heritage and Australian landscape. Unlike a conventional museum, ACCA holds no permanent collection; its entire program consists of newly commissioned and curated exhibitions of contemporary art, frequently created specifically for the venue's unusually tall, adaptable gallery spaces. Entry is by donation; open Tuesday to Friday 10am–5pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am–5pm, closed Mondays.
