Aargau house of art

The Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau ranks among Switzerland's most significant art museums, holding one of the country's largest collections of Swiss art spanning the 18th century to the present day. The original building dates to 1959 in a postwar modernist style, extended in 2003 to accommodate a growing collection and exhibition program. Supported by the Canton of Aargau and the Aargauische Kunstverein, it balances a nationally focused permanent collection with internationally oriented temporary exhibitions. Opening hours run Tuesday to Sunday — with extended evening hours until 20:00 on Thursdays — and the building is fully wheelchair accessible.
